Matt Anderson is back

Matt Anderson, the American spiker of Zenit Kazan, is back in court. After a rest period in which he left the world of volleyball due to depression, he decided to return to Russia to play with his teammates again. He can play only in the Champions League because of the limit on foreign players which is applied in the Russian Superleague, but the most important thing is that he feels better now.

"It feels like I’ve only been away from Zenit just one weekend! Judging by the reaction of my teammates, they understand me and do not hold grudges. The team, by the way, played great without me. I watched the matches in the Champions League and the game Final Six Cup of Russia. It was awesome! I was very happy for the team. Now we really want to win the Champions League and will make every effort to do this" said Anderson about his return.

He made is new "debut" today in the match Kazan-Olympiakos Piraeus (final result: 3-0). He scored 8 points (1 ace, 2 blocks) with 64% of positive reception.

Anderson abbandona per il momento il volley a causa della depressione

ADMIN: With a heavy heart, we confirm the news that Matt has temporarily QUIT from volleyball due to depression. He will be heading back to the USA to be with his family.

E' una notizia a dir poco inaspettata e che mi ha colpita profondamente perché Matt è uno dei giocatori che ammiro maggiormente, sia dentro che fuori dal campo, e anche perché ho soffetto di depressione e so cosa vuol dire. Faccio i miei più cari auguri a Matt sperando che con la vicinanza alla famiglia riesca a superare questo ostacolo e a tornare a giocare ai massimi livelli, come ha fatto fino ad ora.

Cambiamento formula abbinamenti quarti tornei di volley

La FIVB ieri ha pubblicato la Media Guide dei Giochi. Tra le notizie rilevanti la più importante è quella del cambiamento di formula per l'abbinamento dei quarti di finale sia nel torneo maschile che in quello femminile: la prima classificata della Pool A affronterà la quarta classificata della Pool B (A1-B4), mentre la prima classificata della Pool B affronterà la quarta della Pool A (A4-B1). La novità sta che gli altri 2 quarti di finale (A2 vs B2 o B3) e (A3 vs B2 o B3) saranno invece determinati tramite sorteggio.

Gli orari dei match dei quarti di finale saranno stabiliti al termine del sorteggio.
